Original Art Inspired By Nature

I originally made this woman inspired artwork in Australia, where I came out of the closet at the ripe old age of 26. I have always preferred drawing women over men, and looking back that was probably a sign. 

Femininity inspired art

This was a study of the feminine form. To me, femininity is all about emotions, water, intuition. Feeling things deeply before taking action (which is what masculinity is to me). I use lines to represent the energetic flow of femininity, unseen to the naked eye. 

Art as therapy

I make these drawings without knowing what I am making when I start out. And I also go straight in with permanent ink, no pencils. No room for mistakes. This challenges me to learn from my mistakes, by coming up with creative solutions or changing plan mid course and running with the "mistakes". Now they've become opportunities.

I let the artwork guide me, and I set my ego aside. I am not creative, but creativity runs through me. All I do is let it happen. This has taught me to really enjoy the process a lot more, without getting frustrated that the result is not looking like the image my fragile little ego had in mind.
