Customised Artwork

This painting was made on a custom cut wooden board, commissioned by an art lover who let me paint whatever I felt like. So I made this beautiful flowing line art woman. I did not know what I was going to create when I began. 

The Art Process

I started by prepping the wood with Gesso, which helps paint bind to it. And then I used acrylic pouring to make the beautiful colourful shapes in this painting. I let it dry, waited a few days and kept turning it around to look at which shapes and figures I saw in it and find out which way was up. Once I decided on the most beautiful way to use the pre-existing shapes, I added the line art of the woman's figure.

Why I love doing custom art commissions

Especially when I don't know what I want to make, and getting the freedom to choose. I enjoy coming up with an art exercise that lets me start before I even know what I'm going to make. It fully takes the pressure off.
